FlexCache provides a local caching layer for data from an origin volume. The origin is used to bring new data into the cache and to refresh items, but the cache volume itself can remain present and serve data that has already been cached even if the origin volume is not reachable. In other words, if there is cached content, reads can be served from the cache without needing to access the origin. New data cannot be fetched until the origin is available again, but the existing cached data can still be accessed.
